We Write Your Biography For Your Family to Treasure Forever — and this is how it works:

The process of working with Everyday Legacies to write your life story is easy and enjoyable.

1. Initial Consultation

The first step is to determine the scope of your project. A free, no-obligation consultation allows us to discuss your vision: What would you like to write about? What scope of services do you envisage? Are you planning to publish the book or keep it for private family use? Would you like us to create a bespoke project for you, or are you planning to do any of the work yourself?

At the end of the discussion, we will be able to get an idea of your project and provide a cost estimate. You are completely in control of the scope of the project from start to finish.

2. Offer and Agreement

Based on our consultation, we will send a contract agreement to solidify our working relationship. In addition to ensuring confidentiality, the contract will also stipluate an installment plan for payments, which is customary in the industry and minimises the financial risk on both sides. The first down payment of 25% of the total estimate is due when the contract is signed.

3. Concept Development and First Interviews

After the contract is signed, we will begin work on the project including scheduling interviews with you and other relevant parties (as per the scope and agreement of the project). Interviews are generally scheduled in 2-3 hour increments, as close together as possible. The audio of each interview is recorded in order to help us preserve the material we will use in the project. At this time, we will also being the process of material asset collection (photos, journal entries, newspaper articles, etc.) to include in the project.

4. Transcription and Editorial Revisions

As soon as an interview is complete, we begin the process of transcription and crafting your own words into your desired memoir. As we work, we will provide draft text (chapters) for your approval and incorporate the additional material you provide (photos, etc). Your life story is your own; our goal is for you to be 100% satisfied with the quality and authenticity of what we create for you, as each of our clients has been so far!

5. Finalizing Your Project

Once the draft of your manuscript is complete, you will receive the full text for final correction and additions. Your feedback will allow us to make the final changes to perfect your story.

6. Editing and Book Design

As soon as the work on your biography is completed in terms of content, the final step is to take it to print! It will be professionally edited and formatted according to the style and design you specify. You can choose whether your project is to be produced as an exclusive gift (i.e. leather-bound and printed on handmade paper), or whether to print it in a larger edition. Once printing is complete, you will be able to hold your life story in your hands! For many people, this is an indescribable feeling which brings with it a great sense of satisfaction with their lives and a sense of immortality, as your memories have now been captured to advise and benefit suceeding generations.
